The SIMM (Social Impact of Music Making) Network has several upcoming conferences and seminars over the coming year, please see below for full details:
05-07 November 2024: SIMM organises its 9th international SIMM-posium at – and in close collaboration with – the Copenhagen based Rhythmic Music Conservatory, presenting research papers from Scandinavian countries and from all over the world.
09-11 May 2025: the 9th SIMM research seminar will be organised in Cologne at and with the contemporary music Ensemble MusikFabrik for scholars developing research on the role of composers and music composition in social and community music projects and programmes (in collaboration with the Hochschule für Musik und Danz Köln and Chair Jonet). 27-30 July 2025: the 10th SIMM research seminar will be organised in Darmstadt at and with the Hochschule Darmstadt, for scholars developing research on the practise of participatory opera and music theatre (in collaboration with the Darmstadt Summer Course for New Music, Guildhall School of Music, and Chair Jonet). 24-26 November 2025: for the 10th SIMM-posium, we will be back in Brussels, Belgium. Chair Jonet is co-organising, and the keynote speaker will be Professor Lee Higgins, director of the International Centre for Community Music, York St John University.
