In this presentation, A/Professor Laura Ferreri will introduce research in music science across Europe, exploring key groups and initiatives, before focusing on the Italian experience to highlight major projects and emerging directions. Drawing from her own European journey, Laura will present the experimental work that she has developed to investigate music-driven reward, memory, and social processes. A particular focus will be placed on ecological-naturalistic public engagement at the intersection of music, science, and society. Specifically, Laura will share findings from experiments conducted in collaboration with the Sonar Music Festival (Barcelona, Spain) and the Milan Symphonic Orchestra (Milan, Italy). Through this perspective, Laura hopes to spark a discussion on how these approaches can evolve and create new opportunities in the field.
