The Asia-Pacific Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music conference 2026 will be a primarily in-person conference hosted by the Australian Music & Psychology Society from the 9th to the 11th of December 2026. The conference will take place at the Crowne Plaza in Surfer’s Paradise, QLD, Australia!

Good news! We’re extending the abstract submission deadline until 6 May 2026.
If you haven’t had a chance to submit yet, there’s still time. We warmly encourage new submissions from across disciplines that engage with the conference themes. Full details, including submission guidelines and key dates, are available below.

A reminder that while the conference will take place primarily in person, we also offer an online presentation option. You are still very welcome to submit an abstract and participate remotely if you are unable to travel to the Gold Coast.
Presentations will be approximately 15 minutes in duration and will be predominantly in person at the Gold Coast venue, with an online presentation option available. Works at all stages are welcomed, including:
- Works in progress (e.g., PhD students, post-confirmation, reporting on work underway)
- Completed projects (e.g., sharing findings)
- Discussion/Position papers
Abstracts are to be no more than 200 words and should outline the research question or focus, the context for the work, and any results or hypothesised outcomes of a prospective project and conclusions (no references are necessary). While a structured abstract is not required, headings may include Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. Please use the abstract template provided
When submitting your abstract, you will also be asked to provide the details of presenters (and co-authors) and categorise your submission according to the following conference themes. We are open to submissions from a range of Music Science disciplines and sub-fields, including:

Following the success of the student and ECR keynote awards at previous AMPS conferences, presenters will also be able to self-nominate for these awards at the time of abstract submission. Through the nomination process, the conference committee will invite the award winners to deliver keynote presentations at the conference.
