Are you or your community interested in music psychology?
The Australian Music and Psychology Society is available for engagement!
Engagement opportunities include:
- Supporting and facilitating music psychology education in schools and organisations
- Providing expert commentary and participating in interviews for media outlets
- Collaborating with organisations to influence policy and decision-making
Education
AMPS members can work with your school or community group. We can present a single session or create a short series, in person or online! We’ll work with you to design a fun and interactive experience to share knowledge.
In our sessions, we can:
- Introduce music psychology and disseminate interesting findings from recent research
- Co-run a mini-experiment in class, inclusive of collecting and analysing data to demonstrating the scientific process
- Further discuss and demonstrate research methodologies used in music psychology
- Host a question and answer session with a music psychologist
- Lead accessible and inclusive music-making activities to help participants explore music’s health and wellbeing benefits
- For schools, we can present to music, psychology, or other classes, offer mentorship for interested students, and give an overview of university subjects and programs where you could study music psychology.
See our groups page for information about researchers in your area and across Australia.
We also highly recommend programs like Skype A Scientist, STEM Professionals in Schools, and events like Pint Of Science.
Media
AMPS is also available for media commentary and consultation. We can help connect media outlets with experienced researchers in the field for interviews. Members regularly contribute to pieces in ABC Radio and TV, The Age, The Conversation, and more. Please reach out for more information.
Advocacy
AMPS is committed to collaborating with organisations to assist with efforts to influence policy and decision-making. We can help support your call to action with evidence-based arguments, and develop positive working relationships with organisations to advocate for music psychology.
